I went through several variations of the mechanics of this roller ball assembly. I disassembled a roller ball deodorant stick and a lip gloss to see how the ball is held in place and how it functions. Unlike those options I decided that I wanted my product to be self sealing to "close" itself when not in use. I then turned to using a spring to dispense once it is being depressed by the rubbing motion and when not being rolled it will release back to a closed position. At that point I left behind the idea of using a cap in some way thinking that the self closing roller ball would be enough and reduce the amount of parts.
I also want the material to be a soft rubber with a plastic screw cap and a stainless roller ball and spring.
